How to Find a Social Security Office Near You

While you can utilize several services online such as applying for retirement benefits, changing your address, or requesting a replacement social security card, there will be times that you'll need or want to walk into an office to speak to a real person! Sounds great, right?

So the challenge is how do you find a Social Security office near your home? Great question, so let's get right down to it!

How to Find Your Local Social Security Office Using SSA.GOV

Finding your local social security office near you is a snap! But, first, you'll need to access the official United States government website for Social Security at https://www.ssa.gov/locator/ to find your local office.

Next, scroll down the page and look for the blue button which reads "Locate an Office by Zip." When you click this button, a new page will pop up - the Social Security Office Locator. On the bottom left of the page, you'll see a box that says, "Find the Office for this ZIP Code." Once you place your zip code in the box, click the gray "Locate" button next.

On the next page, you'll see the names, locations, and physical addresses of the Social Security offices closest to your ZIP code. If you're on the edge of a ZIP code, try using the neighboring ZIP code, as you may find a Social Security office located closer to your home in another ZIP code.

On the Social Security office information page, besides the address, you'll also find the phone and fax numbers to that office, along with the hours of operation. For example, suppose you're looking for agencies to support you with welfare, housing, and meal assistance. In that case, you can click the link at the bottom of the page or click this link to find out more about housing and other types of assistance available to you.
